Yes! Our first location was at the corner of Page and Pennsylvania. The building is still there I believe, it's a Chinese restaurant now?
There used to be multiple. But, St.johns is the only one still open.
There was a location located in Crestwood on Watson Road. The building was torn down decades ago. Last I heard an O'Reilly's Auto was located on the property.
I've never asked. Not thought to give away the food. Does that make me self centered? Oh no, I'm a bad person, because I can't part with the Chuck.
They have decent fried mushrooms.
I've lived in St Louis for 28 years I literally live within a mile from this location and I have never ate there before until this one time. When one of my best friends found out that I've never ate there before and decided that it was time for me to have my rite of passage, so I decided to go ahead and go with them and had an amazing burger, chili and I forgot what else we had since this was a few weeks or so ago. The staff can definitely use a tiny bit of work. It's not really a great experience dealing with someone that doesn't seem like they give any cares about their job at all. However it was a great experience none the less and I plan on eating there again
One of the most oldest and established places I've gone to for food. They nailed everything off of my list and more! Speedy service, hot food, smiling faces, and more. If you wanna travel back to the late 50's, this is the place to go!
The whole menu is delicious. Best shakes anywhere! Great customer service, so accurate, so fast, no issues ever. It's hard to decide what to get because it's all so good.
Absolutely delicious. We got cheeseburgers and cheese fries, and it was so good I had to force myself not to scarf it down. Staff was really friendly! Make sure you have plenty of time when you're ordering to go, because your order might take a bit of time, but the food is SO worth it. 10/10 will bring my friends here! Did I mention how good the food was?
Started going in 1966. Love their food.
Ate lunch here today with a friend. Quaint little diner is a throw-back to the 1950's era of dining. 8 tables in the restaurant, with 9 seats at the counter. If you want to eat during a busy time, you may have to wait. No drive-through, but they do provide curb service.I had the Philly Steak sandwich. It was good, but nothing spectacular. The fries were OK. I also ordered the Depp-Fried Cheese Cubes as an appetizer. They were very good, but I think I could easily (and plan to) make these at home. The service was outstanding, even though only one waitress was working the inside tables. When we pointed out my friend's order was made wrong, she immediately corrected it and apologized. So, overall good food, good service, in a very cool 50's era diner.
Window service from your car. Only 1 waitress going car to car but she was MOVING!!! For it to be just her working the parking lot, she did great and i can't complain.
Great drive-in restaurant with old fashioned service and a classic Americana foods. Service was friendly and the burgers can't be beat. Highly recommended!
Good burgers. Philly cheese steak was on point as well.
Got a cheese and fries and it was delicious, had to go back the next day and try the cod fish and again delicious
Was a drive in. Loved the rootbeer. Burgers were ok.
Excellent as always. Fish sandwich & onion rings were hot and fresh with homemade shake to top it off
Very much a '50s '60s place, dont come with thoughts of Red Robin. This is absolutely Triple D (Diners, Drive-ins & Dives) by any measure!!!
Great place to get away from modern day. Brought a few friends here for the first time and they loved it. Small place with great food. Highly recommend the float.
This place is awesome. I loved the teeny counter, and that kids meals are served in a classic car!
Great fast service ,food is delicious ,French fries are the best but that pineapple Sunday , oh my
As old school as it gets, if you are in the mood for some delicious burgers, fries, onion rings and shakes. It is a small place so get there early or eat in your car.
Curbside service is great! If you really want to eat a a fiftys dinner. It's a must go! Thank's Ron for keeping it around!
Wife always loves their cheese curds. Fast and friendly staff/service.
When you drive by you think... I don't know... but you should be saying... I think so.. Go ahead pull over give it a try. Sit in your car and eat like it was the 50s and 60s again. The service is quick and efficient. The food was freshly prepared. The taste... pretty good. The price... just right. I will definitely come back. You.. you should at least give it a try.
Who was really hot hot hot hot what is covid-19 you're not allowed to go inside
Fantastic hidden gem in metro St Louis. I found it by accident while searching for cheap gas off of I-70. Quaint little burger joint that serves everything you would expect out of a 50s burger joint. You have the option to drive-thru, drive-in, or dine-in. Come here hungry, because you will definitely want to get yourself a burger, fries, and malt/shake.
Quick and easy also always very friendly staff
I finally made it into this historic St. Louis burger joint. The food was really tasty and fresh. The toppings for my burger and meat were not mass produced. It definitely had the feel of a mom and pop place. Do not go here if you're in a rush, speed of service is not the top priority. It has a really cool vibe because it has not been remodeled since maybe it opened back in 1957. Price was decent -you're paying for quality of food.
the food is good, the atmosphere is nice, but I cannot forget the days of segregation. The days when their customers were so blatantly racist. Those times are not easily forgotten.
Go mostly on Friday's... Love the drive up and order...style
Good little burger joint, straight out of the 50's. If you pull up out front, the friendly staff will come take your order and bring you your goodness. Be warned, the BBQ burger is slathered with yummy BBQ sauce (get extra napkins), but worth it. Definitely recommend for a fun & unique dining experience!
Great food and great people, can't recommend it enough. Going to miss coming here
They have been making the same excellent food for so long now. The fries here have always been my favorite!
One of those STL gems, a must visit. Food is always delicious and the employees are an absolute delight.
Customer service is AMAZING !!! But the “codfish dinner” was horrible. My sister and I ordered the same meal an she herself didn’t like the smell of the fish. It smelled very bad, we couldn’t finish it. The fries were good!
This place is a staple - no doubt. Solid, simple food done right. Authentic, classic, nostalgic environment. Well worn, and very well loved.
Old fashion real burgers and pork tenderloin sandwiches delicious
Really great food for the price. Vintage location with lots of local history. Definitely check this place out if you’re looking for a good burger and fries and want to support a local business.
VERY GOOD CURB SERVICE. FOOD IS DELICIOUS!!!
I have lived in overland for 2 years and have not ate at Chuck a burger . Until about a week ago. And I live the food their . I don't know why it took me and my family so long to go eat there. We did eat inside it was a total of 7 of us. And the waitress was great, the food came out fast. A lot faster then we thought it would. The shakes are great. The cheese Fries are awesome and the voyage burger was one of the best burgers I have had in a very long time. Their shakes beats steak n shake and other places for sure . I would definitely come back this will be our #1 spot from now on.
Loved it! Excellent food and friendly staff. We were waited on and served quickly even during lunch rush. How have I not eaten here before!
I am 71 years old I have been eating a chuck-a-burger since I was 15. The food is just as good now as it was back then had lunch there yesterday as a matter of fact with a good friend of mine who had made a chuck-a-burger in years and she was tickled to death that I live like two minutes from 1 and the waitress we had was terrific she has worked at chuck-a-burger since she was 15 and she's been there 39 years. Wow
Their pork tenderloin sandwich with mustard, onions, and extra pickles is possibly the best thing on earth! Honestly everything I've had on their menu is good. I usually get a strawberry milkshakes too. Grew up going here. Food is still same great quality
This rating is mainly for my daughter. I've never eatin here before. But, my girl has and she says the food is delicious! Also, it was one of my Step Dad's favorite restaurants back in the day. Rest well Captain Ken. 😇🕊 We miss you!
This is an old time drive up with some excellent food.
Brings back fond remembrances friend people, good food and so much more
Burgers are really good fresh made to order just like back in the day it's a must try place shakes a good too love the drive up car service small in the inside but plenty drive up spots
Love this little place. So friendly and the food is served hot and in large portions. Can't go wrong with a good malt either! Staff can be a little overbearing when it comes to vocalising the need for supporting local small business, but it's an important point that I agree with. Will definitely come back again for a chilled root beer.
I go here every time I vist st.Louis, best milkshakes and pizza burgers I ever had, they need to open up a location in Orlando Florida, way better than the knock offs we have here. Also, great service, low price
Highly recommend. Burgers are greasy and the fries are crispy. The shakes are really good too! Go inside and enjoy the old school atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out.
My first time at this location and the food is good. The service was nice, but little to no diversity beside myself. I felt comfortable in the small diner environment, but I would probably have been more comfortable with friends. I like that you can order by phone then pick up from your car. Overall I would visit again and recommend to anyone wanting local food surrounded by local people.
Cute old 50's diner with great service! The burger when you see it looks disappointing but tastes great, but not the best burger I've ever eaten. The chicken strips on the other hand were perfect! Crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside.
Eat here as a little boy and loved it. Hadn't eaten there in a while food still great. Love the burgers, fries and shakes.
Good food and great place to see some friends
